On Tuesday (May 28th), there will be a group event with several options for you to choose from.

  • Lednice castle: We will have have a trip to the Lednice castle which is located in the municipality of Lednice in Okres BÅ™eclav - around 45 mins away from Brno city center. In the afternoon, we'll embark on an enchanting half-day journey to the southern Moravia aboard a private coach. This region is renowned for its breathtaking countryside, adorned with sprawling vineyards and undulating fields. Our destination will be the stunning Lednice Castle, nestled amidst a vast historical park adorned with a tranquil lake and meandering streams, the oldest greenhouse in Europe with exotic plans, artificial ruins or historical minaret. Together, these sites compose one of the grandest and most beautiful artistic landscapes in the world, nicknamed as the "garden of Europe". We will enjoy both a leisurely stroll through the park and an exploration of the historical interiors of Lednice Castle, accompanied by an English-speaking guide. The castle Lednice was first built in the 13th century as a summer residence of the wealthy Liechtenstein noble family and, throughout the centuries, evolved into one of the most beautiful examples of the Tudor neo-Gothic style. During the tour, we will explore the castle's most exquisite representative rooms, which are still adorned with rich, original furniture, beautiful wooden paneling, and decorated ceilings. Notably, this castle is a favored location for filmmakers. For further insights, feel free to browse through the castle's photo gallery.

  • Brno city center walking tour: During our tour, we will acquaint ourselves with Brno, the second-largest city in the Czech Republic, often referred to as the capital of Moravia and renowned as a city of students and universities. We will start our tour at the Faculty of Science and walk to the city center. We won't miss the bustling ÄŒeská Street, an important transportation hub and meeting point for locals living in Brno. We will walk past the Baroque Church of St. Thomas and the Gothic Church of St. James. From there, we will continue to the main square with its special astronomical clock. At Zelný Trh, we will have the opportunity to buy some locally produced fruit or vegetables at the traditional marketplace. We will hear the tale of the Brno dragon and admire the mannerist stone portal of the Old Town Hall during our tour. Additionally, we will visit the Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul, the oldest church and a symbol of Brno. Then, we will walk to Å pilberk Castle located on a hill overlooking the city. Nowadays a museum, this castle used to be the medieval seat of Moravian princes and later the heaviest prison in the Habsburg Empire, known as the Prison of Nations. From here, we will enjoy a nice view of the city and the nearby cathedral. On our walk back to the hotel, we will also see the house where the famous mathematician Kurt Gödel was born, the statue of the first Czechoslovakian president and founder of Masaryk University, as well as some other faculties and the headquarters of MU. We will walk approximately 7 km during this tour.
